Sexual Assault Response Team (SART)

The Sexual Response Assault Team (SART) is a group of specially trained physicians. We are dedicated to providing medical care and emotional support to anyone who has been sexually assaulted. We will provide you with options for your care. If you choose you can be examined and treated for your injuries, given medications for sexually transmitted infections, receive a pregnancy test and be provided with the morning after pill. We are able to collect samplesĀ forĀ a police investigation. It is your choice whether or not to report to the police. We will respect your decisions. All services are free of charge.

If you, or someone you know, has been sexually assaulted within the last 7 days and would like to seek medical care, you can reach the SART through the Kelowna General Hospital Emergency Department at 2268 Pandosy St. Upon arriving at the Emergency department, please let the nurse at the triage desk know that you would like to see a SART physician. You are welcome to bring a friend or family member to support you. Staff from the Elizabeth Fry Society, a community service organization that provides ongoing victim services for women who have been sexually assaulted, are also available to accompany you at the hospital.

This service is available 24/7 and is at no cost to you.
