Tupa’s Lodge

In Autumn 2020, we will be opening Tupa’s Lodge, a transitional housing program for mothers and infants & children at-risk of involvement with the Ministry of Children and Family Development. The goal of Tupa’s Lodge is to provide a safe, culturally-sensitive, and supportive living arrangement for mother and baby, in order to nurture early bonding, and prevent children from entering care. Wrap-around programming utilizing existing programming at the Ki-Low-Na Friendship Society, as well as new programming specifically offered for residents, and referral to relevant community resources will be an essential component of this program. An essential part of this program will be Elders who will live in the home, and provide support, guidance, and knowledge-sharing with residents.

Currently, we are offering Trauma Counselling services through this program.

This project is being developed in partnership with BC Housing and the Aboriginal Housing Management Association. Additional funding for programming and services is provided by the B.C. Women’s Hospital and Health Centre.
