Xw-l-ale-cecemala: Kids Come to Life

Using a restorative justice model and focused on culturally-based rehabilitation and reintegration, our Youth Justice program serves urban Indigenous youth who are involved, or at risk of being involved, with the criminal justice system. Our holistic approach allows us to address the underlying causes of Indigenous youth involvement in the criminal justice system.

Another component of this program is the development of a guide to educate community stakeholders about the importance of culturally-appropriate approaches to working with Indigenous youth involved with the criminal justice system, as well well as delivering awareness sessions at schools on Canada’s Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Youth are referred through workers, court system, and law enforcement. For more information regarding this program, please contact our youth justice workers by calling our main office (250) 763-4905 and ask for Charity or Sam.

Funding for this program is provided by the Department of Justice Canada.
